War in the East: A Military History of the Russo-Turkish War 1877-78 Quintin Barry
I believe this book has stimulated a lot of interest in the conflict. Looks like the Kindle edition is reasonably priced. Amazon
Russo-Turkish War figures
There is a good Facebook group called 19th (1815-1914) Century Warfare and Wargames and the subject of the Russo-Turkish war came up and quite a few were doing it so I thought I would look at figures. This range of 28mms look good. Here
There is a good blog post here about Romanian army using these figures.
15mm Lancashire Games does them. Also see Rank and File

The Turkish Gambit part 1
The film is based on the second book from the Adventures of Erast Petrovich Fandorin series of novels written by the Russian author Boris Akunin. The film takes place in 1877 during the Russian-Turkish war. Erast Fandorin has just escaped from Turkish prison and is trying to get on the Russian side as soon as possible to give important information about the upcoming attack of the enemy. On his way he meets Varvara Suvorova, a young lady who is going to see her fiancée - a soldier of the Russian army. Erast also knows that there is a spy somewhere in the Russian army, everyone is under suspicion...

Even more Szathmari
Thanks to Boris for finding more from this Romanian photographer - some from the 1877-8 Russo-Turkish war. The portraits are interesting as he captures peasants and ordinary people as well as dignitaries.http://www.biblacad.ro/catonline.html - mainly portraits

Russo-Turkish war Osprey
A few posts to celebrate the release of a load of figures in 1/72 scale by Strelets-R. I am guessing this book is a good start in the English language. Below is a clip from a movie - not sure which but a fairly good impression of warfare at that time.
