Public domain films. Directed by Canadian producer and filmmaker James Henry White for Edison Studios in 1900. 1) Two films were shot by James White on the same day (April 11, 1900) and in the same location used for all other war-set films: Orange Mountains, West Orange, New Jersey, USA. The two films were sold separately. In them, James White was seriously injured, burning himself with the action of the cannons used in the set design. 2) We present the reconstruction of an advance by the Scottish Gordon Highlanders in the midst of the Boer War in South Africa, on a battery formed by rural Boer fighters. Even with cannons and firearms, the Boers flee before the arrival of the soldiers of the British Empire.

 On 11 October 1899 the Second Boer War between the British and the Boers began. The war saw the most powerful professional army in the world pitted against the unconventional tactics of the undisciplined Boers. Although the Boers were finally forced to surrender in May 1902 the war had taken its toll on their opponents who lost some 8,000 troops killed in action with a further 13,000 dying from disease. This book covers the organisation, uniforms and very different tactics involved in the conflict, from guerrilla warfare to a final war of attrition that the Boers could not hope to win.

Useful artillery for the Boer War

 Britains 4.7" naval gun. My daughter picked this up for me from Cheddar Car boot sale. Fires matchsticks. I am no expert but it suits me. Wiki on the gun

Requires a Naval crew but head swaps will do that job.

Armies in plastic 1/32 Boer War

 Here. Not the best figures in the world but they look ok and they aren't expensive. I would imagine that a quick paint job will make them good. 

Blockhouse Boer War

From the wiki.  Blockhouse close to Wolseley, Western Cape dating from the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902)

These Blockhouses were built in 1901 during the Anglo-Boer War. They were built by the British to protect the railway bridges from Boer attacks. The stone is local while the remaining materials were imported from Britain. These Blockhouses could house 20 men with water, ammunition and supplies stored on the lower floor. The "living" area was the middle floor and was accessible by a retractable ladder and the top floor was the "look-out" deck. Only 1000 of these Blockhouses were built and few have survived. They were very effective barriers and few saw any action.
