War Undergound
As I have mentioned before my Grandfather was a tunneller in the Great War - he was a proto man as in this picture, rescuing expired tunnellers. Looking like something out of Jules Verne. I have been talking to my local museum about maybe doing something on tunnellers as there were quite a few local men doing it. The above book is very good - my brother bought it me for Christmas. The caption to the above cover photo is
Proto mine rescue apparatus. Rescue of a sapper on listening duty who has been pinned to the ground by a fall of roofing caused by the explosion of a hostile mine.

Ragged Victorians
This group have acquired an excellent reputation for an authentic view of lower class society in the 19th century. I know a couple of members. Check out their Gallery and then their event list.
