Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Allied landings at Gallipoli, 25 April 1915. The following oil painting by British maritime artist Charles Dixon, titled "The Landing at Anzac, 1915," depicts the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Anzac Cove.

Last Sunday I visited Gallipoli, lot's of cemetaries there, a great fortress which fought in the early sea-battle. The only problem was I wasn't able to visit the visitors-center because there was a celebrations of British at this day.
ReplyDeleteThe military museum in Istanbul had a special exhebition about the campaign too. All worth a visit!
