Germinal (1993)

 My favourite non military historical movie is this one - an epic drama about a miner's strike. It is worth tracking down if you can. We got ours from our son who bought us a box set of Claude Berri movies just to get Germinal, though it is up now on Youtube movies it is still the cheapest way to get a DVD. At the time of its release it was the most expensive French movie ever made. A commercial and critical success.
