  1. Wonderful pictures. Many thanks. But it is sobering to wonder how many of these men were still alive three years after the pictures were taken.

  2. It's sobering indeed, Charles. Those Algerian Tirailleurs fought with great courage and determination for France, just like their ancestors did in 1855, 1859 and 1870.
