Russo-Turkish war Osprey

A few posts to celebrate the release of a load of figures in 1/72 scale by Strelets-R. I am guessing this book is a good start in the English language. Below is a clip from a movie - not sure which but a fairly good impression of warfare at that time.

  1. The Innocents Abroad
    by Mark Twain 1869
    Chapter XLII.

"If ever an oppressed race existed, it is this one we see fettered around us under the inhuman tyranny of the Ottoman Empire. I wish Europe would let Russia annihilate Turkey a little--not much, but enough to make it difficult to find the place again without a divining-rod or a diving- bell."

  2. Looks like the movie is here....

    Pentru patrie(1977)

  3. I would recommend Soviet 1954 movie "Heroes of Shipka". All available on youtube with English subtitles, part 1 here:
High standard of costumes' authenticity, somewhy unheard of these days.

  4. "Heroes of Shipka" and "Pentru Patrie"

I'm looking at the clips on YOUTUBE of these films. I'm amazed at the hateful comment under the clips from various people. People are still mad!
