1914 by Lyn Macdonald

 Picked up this book for 50p. Looks good. 

An account of the first few months of the First World War, from the build-up of the fighting to the first Battle of Ypres.

    Can I also suggest 'The Vanished Army' by Tim Carew, and Barbara Tuchman's 'August 1914' (also known as 'The Guns of August'). The Seeley Service book 'The British Army in 1914' is also worth a read because of the details of other European armies of the time.
