Minifigs 15mm Crimean war.

List here. What is people's opinion of this range? I painted one battalion of French that had shakos. Is it the best 15mm Crimean war figures? I admit to liking the sculpting style of Minifigs. I think we were going to use Fire and Fury rules. There is a 15mm French versus Russian game here I wonder what figures are used? I see Eureka do 15s. Review here

  1. For my money the Minifigs range is the best. Clean sculpting means I find them easier to paint. The range is also very complete.

The Eureka figures are lovely but the French troops are minimal and as the range was privately commissioned many years ago the missing figures will never be made. There are no matching sized ranges are they are sold as "18mm" figures which is a shame.
For rules I am using Bloody Big Battles which really work a lot like F&F.

  2. I've painted up Minifigs for the Battle of Balaclava. Range is okay. I wish the sculpts had more variety in poses. I want to get and paint up Sardinians.

  3. Your question: There is a 15mm French versus Russian game here I wonder what figures are used?

The Answer: Essex Miniatures, who have fairly extensive FPW and APW ranges. Not sure they'll mix style-wise with Minifigs but they are well sculpted for a block colour and wash technique. Personally I prefer the Minifigs 'toy' style and it is defnitely one of their better ranges just such a shame that some of the Prussians fall a bit short of the rest (the line infantryman and cuirassier - IMO).

  4. The Minifigs range is good. All single pose save the command of course. I really like them.

You might have a look at Irregular Miniatures 15mm Crimean War range too. The cavalry are bigger than Minifigs but the infantry work well enough with them.

I have Minifigs Crimean War French on my blog at the moment. Later this month I'll post pics of my Russian Army a mixture of Irregular and Minifigs.
