Hearts of the world: 1918 film by D.W. Griffith, with Lillian Gish

From the 1914-1918 Game series 100 years ago today the propaganda film ‘Hearts of the World’ was released in America. Commissioned by the British government, it was intended to sway the American public from their neutral view of the First World War. Telling the story of an American boy in France who fights to defend his village and rescue his sweetheart, it also portrays the Germans as vicious and cruel.
