True Grit

I don't know how many of you like westerns but I mention this current Coen brothers movie as it's pretty rare these days to see a successful horse opera and as I saw it yesterday thought I'd pass comment on it. First thing to note is that it's not a remake of the 69 movie with Duke Wayne but instead goes back to the original novel which is told from the young girl's perspective. Jeff Bridges puts in a fine performance as the grizzled Rooster Cogburn who we are told ran with Quantrill during the Civil War. Matt Damon plays a Texas Ranger. The box office for this film has exceded all expectations becoming the 2nd highest grossing western after 'Dances with Wolves'. So if you like westerns maybe a trip to the picture house is in order.
