Ralph, I have seen photos of reenactments of the Battle of Puebla done for Cinco De Mayo. There are two kinds. One is the Indian folk dance parade in Puebla that's more of a carnival involving drinking, music, and firing odd weapons in the air. Men dress as the female Indians who participated in battle as well comic looking French. The other reenactment I have seen photos of is the government's reenactment using military cadets in close looking period costume.

Yep-they do reenact this. Cinco de Mayo is a public holiday.
