Colonel Shadforth & the 57th Regiment
This is one of my favourite Fenton photographs. It shows a huge number of men something he didn't do much, mostly working with small groups and vignettes.

I wonder if any soldier bought Mr. Fenton's photo of the regiment and drew in a little arrow pointing to "ME." Even though the unit appears to formed in a "U" open toward the camera, the photo gives some idea of the space a regiment took up. This photo is a new one to me. Thank you for posting it.
